Nyandungu Eco Park

Nyandungu Eco Park is on a120 hectares of surface area, and it is popularly known as a recreational area located between Gasabo and Kicukiro in Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda. The park was opened on 8th July 2022, and it was financed by the Rwanda Green Fund, United Nations Environment Programme and Italian Ministry for Ecological Transition. It is known for its lush green surroundings,17000 indigenous tree species, restaurant, information center picnic areas, popes garden, medicinal garden, 5 catchment pond,10km walkways plus bike lanes and various outdoor activities that attract both locals and tourists.

Main purpose of Nyandugu Eco Park

The creation of Nyandugu Eco Park is aimed at restoring urban ecosystems and other wetlands in order to prevent flooding and pollution and also offers refuge to distinct biodiversity by protecting lives and livelihoods.
The park also has several hiking trails, which range from easy to challenging and allow visitors to explore the park’s natural beauty. In addition, there are several picnic areas and camping sites where visitors can enjoy a relaxing day or night in nature.

The trails are well paved and demarcated with visible signposts to guide you through this vast park. It is a great place to relax with friends and family to escape the city noise. You will find ample parking space, restrooms and the security is great. The entrance is free, operates from 6am to 6pm seven days a week and the park has plenty of parking space and well paved routes for those who enjoy cycling and walking around.
