7 days Uganda Primate tracking safari will start Kigali and end in Entebbe but will involve crossing over to Uganda for gorilla and chimpanzee trekking experience in the Jungles, wildlife viewing and boat cruise on Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Detailed itinerary for 7 Days Uganda Primate tracking Safari
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to the hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport and passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our safari driver who will, brief you shortly and transfer you to the booked accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel. Accommodation: Quiet Heaven Hotel. Meal Plan: Dinner
Day 2: Visit Kigali genocide memorial & transfer to Bwindi: Travel time +4 hrs
Today after taking your early morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and drive to visit the Kigali genocide memorial grounds, which honors the memory of the more than one million Rwandans killed in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to watch and listen to some video clips from some of the survivors’ of the incident.
Later you will proceed with a drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest through the magnificent route to your booked accommodation to catch up with the late lunch and later spend the rest of the afternoon relax and prepare for the next day’s trekking. Accommodation: Bwindi Back Parker lodge. Meal plan: Full-Board.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking & transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP. Travel time +5hrs
Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the briefing from the Uganda wildlife officials and thereafter enter the jungle to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their life style in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour gazing into their big round eyes. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sun screen and hut.
The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movement of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience in Uganda you will have informative memorable experience in life. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park one of the most visited parks known for having diversity of wildlife including the tree climbing lions of the Ishasha sector. Day 4: Game drive & boat cruise
Today you will have a very early morning breakfast and drive to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national Park in search for the tree climbing lions of Ishasha which do hide on the fig trees of this great park. Along side you will be able to spot some wildlife such as the elephants, buffaloes, water bucks and numerous bird species.
You will later return and head for lunch before embarking on a boat cruise along the Kazinga channel which is known for having the largest number of hippos in the whole world. You will also be able to spot Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, kobs drinking water along the lake side. You will later return to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Park View Safari Tourist lodge. Meal plan: Full-Board.
Day 5: Transfer to Kibale
After a relaxed morning breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and be transferred to Kibale National Park, a tropical rain forest know for harboring more than 13 primate species making it to be known as the primate capital of the world including the chimpanzees. You will have an en route lunch in Fort Portal as you proceed to your booked accommodation. Accommodation: Chimpanzee Forest Guest House. Meal plan: Full-Board.
Day 6: Chimpanzee trek & Bigodi swamp walk.
Today you will be driven to Kanyanchu visitor’s center after having your early morning breakfast. Kibale National park is known as a primate capital hosting over 13 primate species alongside the commonly trekked chimpanzees including the grey checked mangabey, baboons, red colobus monkeys, red tailed monkey, bush babies to mention but a few.
After briefing you will head into the jungle in search for this great primates where by you will be given an hour of interaction with them. After trekking you will return for lunch before heading for a swamp walk at Bigodi wetlands to see more primates and numerous bird species. Dinner and overnight at the lodge. Accommodation: Chimpanzee Forest Guest House. Meal plan: Full-Board.
Day 7: Drive back to Kampala Travel time +6 hrs
After having relaxed breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and drive back to Kampala reaching in the afternoon where you will be either dropped at Entebbe to catch up with your evening flight, back home. End of service!
