These 6 days Gorilla Trekking, canoe Ride and golden monkey safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park well known for Gorilla trekking in Rwanda. Drive through the unwinding hills in rural areas into the home of endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkey. Your safari begins from Kigali urban settings into the village setting of Musanze, this park is a habitat to variety of primate species that you may encounter during your trekking. You will also be to encounter a number of bird species and other wildlife. You will also have a visit to Iby’ Iwacu cultural village to get an insight of the Rwanda culture and watch their traditional ways of living as you have chance to interact with these ex-poachers, later visit the shores of lake Kivu and do a fascinating boat ride on the lake to explore the hidden islands within the lake which will give you a great experience.
Detailed itinerary for 6 days Gorilla Trekking & Canoe Ride
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to the hotel
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport and passing through the immigration process, you will be welcomed by our safari driver who will, brief you shortly and transfer you to the booked accommodation. Dinner and overnight stay at Marriott Hotel (luxury) or Flame Tree Village hotel(midrange) or Quiet Haven hotel (Economy). Meal Plan: Dinner
Day 2: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Travel time +2hrs
Today you will be picked at your lodge after completing your morning breakfast and head for a city tour to visit the local market and Kigali genocide memorial ground and have lunch before being transferred to Musanze near Volcanoes National Park where you will your dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation at Five Volcanoes Boutique lodge (luxury) or Le Bambou gorilla lodge (midrange) or Kinigi Guest House (Economy). Meal Plan: Half board.
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Cultural visit
Early morning cup of coffee, then prepare for the gorilla trekking briefing from the park headquarters and thereafter, you will be briefed before you enter the jungle with your packed lunch to search the shy mountain gorillas and enjoy their lifestyle in their real home. After meeting the gorillas, you can sit around these great apes for a whole hour watching their social life as you take pictures. On a gorilla safari, a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as walking shoes, packed food and mineral water, insect repellent, sunscreen and hut.
The gorilla tracking experience takes half or whole day depending on the movements of these primates. After this gorilla tracking experience, you will return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you will be transferred to Iby’ Iwacu cultural village, ready for a village foot safari, to explore the indigenous local life with a taste of the traditional performance, this will give you a great insight of Rwanda culture. Dinner and overnight at Five Volcanoes Boutique lodge (luxury) or Le Bambou gorilla lodge (midrange) or Kinigi Guest House (Economy). Meal Plan: Full board.
Day 4: Golden Monkey trekking
Today after you warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked by our safari driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for briefing and start off you day golden monkey trekking. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking though not so hectic like gorilla trekking. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and later you will be transferred to Kisenyi – Lake Kivu where you will spend the rest of your evening relaxing at the lodge. Dinner and overnight at Serena Hotel Kivu (luxury) Mariah Hills hotel (midrange) or Bethany hotel (Economy). Meal Plan: Full board.
Day 5: Boat ride and transfer to Kigali
Today after you warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked by our safari driver guide who will transfer you to Lake Kivu for a boat ride to have an adventure to explore the islands within this great lake as you watch over for various species of birds and fishermen doing their fishing in the local canoe. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and later transfer to Kigali. Dinner and overnight at Marriott hotel (luxury) or Flame Tree Village hotel (midrange) or Quiet Haven hotel (Economy). Meal Plan: Full board.
Day 6: Transferred to airport.
After having your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport to catch up with your flight. End of service!
