Your 4 days gorilla trekking adventure at volcanoes national park and visit to Lake Kivu will give you a great adventure of the beach and water life, you will have an experience to take a canoe ride to explore islands within lake Kivu, see numerous bird species, interaction the local fishermen and end up and a sun beach to enjoy the beautiful sea breath at the beach. You will also have an experience to explore the local insight of Rwandan culture through visiting the Iby’ iwacu Cultural Village and learn more about the Rwanda Culture.
Detailed itinerary for 4 days Gorilla trekking and Lake Kivu
Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park. Travel time + 2 hours
You will be picked by our guide or company representative, from your hotel accommodation in Kigali or airport in case you arrive with morning flight and head for a city tour to visit the Kigali Genocide memorial ground where over 25000 bodies of victims of genocide were given a decent burial and later have lunch in a local restaurant before being transferred to Musanze – Volcanoes National Park where you will have dinner and overnight stay. Accommodation option: Five Volcanoes Boutique hotel (luxury lodge) or Mount Gorilla View Lodge (Mid-range) or La Palma Hotel (Economy lodge). Meal Plan: L – D
Day 2: Gorilla Trek – Kigali. Travel time + 2hours
Today after your early morning breakfast, at 7.30 am, you will be transferred to the park’s headquarters with your packed lunch in Office of Tourism in Kinigi where you are briefed by the ranger about the rules and regulations governing Gorilla tracking before you head off to the jungle in search for these gentle giants. The gorilla trekking can last from an hour to six hours depending on the gorilla’s movements, though the trek is strenuous but much rewarding at the end.
You will be given an hour with the gorilla to take as many pictures as possible of your choice and later return from your trek, head for lunch. In afternoon, ready for cultural insight at Iby’ Iwacu cultural center, where you will a total cultural experience of Rwanda culture and later return in the afternoon for dinner and overnight. Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu: Travel time +2hrs
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked by our company safari guide and transferred to Lake Kivu. Upon arrival at Lake Kivu, head for a canoe ride which will give you a beautiful sea feel as you watch over to see local fishermen and number of bird species at different corners of the Lake and later head for lunch. After lunch, spend the rest of the evening refreshing and enjoy the sand on beach.
Accommodation: Serena Hotel Kivu (Luxury hotel) or Hotel Diana Fossey Nyiramacibiri (Midrange hotel), or Bethany hotel (Economy). Meals: Full Board
Day 4: Transfer back to Kigali.
After a morning breakfast, have a city tour of Rubavu. Later transfer to Kigali through the view of the thousand hills as you proceed with the transfer back to Kigali arriving in Kigali and transfer to the airport for your evening flight schedule. End of service! Meal Plan: B & L
